ILR members may invite a Guest (free of membership dues) one time/semester to an ILR class that they are taking. An individual non-member may visit one ILR class as a Guest on a space available basis. Non-members may register for trips, special events, and one-day workshops, as Guests, but pay the class fees as specified in the catalog. The ILR member who invites a Guest, needs to:
Check with the ILR staff if there is room for more participants in the selected activity
Complete a Guest Registration form
Turn it in to the ILR staff
Instructors may receive a minimal travel reimbursement upon submission of a mileage record.
The Institute for Learning in Retirement admits members of any race, color, gender, religion, national, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to ILR participants. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, national, and ethnic origin in administration of its educational programs or policies. The ILR does not tolerate language and actions that could be offensive to others, especially those related to race, color, gender, religion, nationality, and/or ethnic origin in the administration or educational programs.
The purpose of the Institute for Learning in Retirement is educational, not commercial. Members provide contact data to the ILR so that they might receive membership and class information, announcements, etc. Thus, the ILR has a responsibility to protect members’ privacy by strictly controlling the use of this contact data.
ILR members and instructors/facilitators may not use class meetings, rosters or membership lists to actively solicit clients/customers for a company or individual business. The instructors may share their contact information with the ILR members during the class. Class participants are free, of course, to inquire further on their own about products or services or to give their explicit consent to be placed on a business’ mailing or call list.
The ILR directors and staff cooperate with Partner-Organizations in publicizing their services and events that are (a) consistent with ILR aims and objectives, and (b) of compelling interest to ILR members.

Whenever possible, refunds will be provided to members.
If a refund for a class fee is requested after expenses for that class* already have been incurred by the ILR and/or by an instructor/facilitator, then no refund can be made unless a substitute is found. Refund for the ILR membership will be made upon request before the first day of classes of the current semester.
*Class fee can be required for admission fees, supplies required to perform an activity, food, transportation, etc. and it is published in the ILR class catalog.
The ILR can use a member’s name and image, either via photograph or video, for publicity on the following media: (a) the ILR website, (b) social media (for example: Facebook, Instagram), (c) print (i.e., via brochures or flyers and display boards), (d) public and professional presentations.
Once such information is posted to the ILR media accounts/products, it is possible for this information to be further shared beyond accounts/products (i.e., via reposting, sharing, copying). The ILR is not responsible for this further sharing of information beyond the initial posting.
The ILR member has the right to revoke this authorization at any time. The revocation of this authorization must be done in writing and sent to the ILR office. The revocation will take effect on the date of reception at the ILR and will not apply to information that has already been released as result of this authorization. Unless otherwise revoked, this authorization will expire at the end of the term (August 31, or February 28), as stated on the Consent Form.
