Underground Railroad Tour

Description

Every 2 years J&J Spratt Funeral Home in association with Historical Society offers a guided walking tour of the "safe" houses for the Underground Railroad. Speakers are in period dress and tell a story about their house. Sidewalks are used for the 1–2-hour tour but not handicapped accessible. There is a hill up and a hill down. The tour leaves every 15 minutes and there is always a wait, but they have refreshments. There is no fee but without donations they can't exist. Donations are strongly encouraged and expected.

Be aware of narrow sidewalks, doorways, sidewalks, a hill up and down. Not handicapped accessible. We will meet at the ILR and any other needed stops on the way or in New Brighton.

Wine & Lunch

Description

Please join an adventurous group of ILR members (and sometimes friends) for wine tasting followed by eating. We will visit local wineries (within a 1-hour drive) to sample their wares and then enjoy a meal. We will meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Since many tasting rooms do not open until late afternoon (4 PM), some outings will be wine and dinner, others will be wine followed by lunch. Carpooling may be arranged privately among participants. The cost of tasting (generally $0-$5) and food will be the responsibility of the participant.
